1 yr Anniversay Trip Up the Coast

On Saturday morning, I woke Jeremy up and told him that I had planned a day trip up North to Point Reyes (a National Park). We got in the car and drove north thru foggy SF.
About 30 minutes after we had passed the city, Jeremy said "wow, we're really going North, have we ever been this North of the city before?"
I paused, and responded "well, we went a lot further north last year when we went to glass beach."
Jeremy started to pout, and whined "glass beach- i wish we could go there" (it's one of his favorite places and we'd been thinking about going for our anniversary, but it's pretty far away, so you have to stay over, and all the B&B's had 2 night minimums and are VERY expensive!!).
I turned to him and said, "you want to go to glass beach- let's just go." He looked at me like i was crazy, so i had to tel him his surprise- I had booked a room at a B&B 10 miles from Mendocino for that night and we were really on our way to Glass Beach. He couldn't believe it, and he was all smiles the rest of the trip (even though he had to drive 60 miles through the mountains, with one hairpin turn right after another).

We got to the B&B at 1pm, and spent the rest of the day exploring.

The view from our deck at the B&B (that's not my belly sticking out that far- i had brochures in my front pocket!)

The Mendocino coast

Glass Beach- there is no sand, it's all glass (a sea glass lovers dream!!)

That's all sea glass in the background- it's INSANE!! We spent hours just sitting in the sea glass looking for cool colors (i of course look for blue and jeremy looks for orange and red)

SEA GLASS!!!!!

After spending the day at glass beach, we went back to the inn, showered, and went to an amazing dinner where we had a table overlooking the ocean

The view from our table at the restaurant

The next morning, we had coffee and hot cocoa laying in bed looking at the ocean- can't get much better than that!!

After breakfast we checked out of the inn, ready for another day full of fun adventures!

Saying goodbye to the inn- this is the water feature at the front of the inn- the whole place was so cute and very charming!

We stopped along the coastline to take some pics- this was our 1st time figuring out the self-timer (we were very impressed with ourselves!)

After going to glass beach again, we stopped at the Mendocino Botanical Gardens- 42 acres of gardens on the ocean- it was beautiful!!

After walking thru the gardens, this is what you get to see (yes, another self-timed pic- we're getting good!!)

Can't get much better than that- sitting on a bench looking at the ocean- yeah, life is good!!

How cute is my hubby?!!!!

After spending all day Saturday and Sunday on the coast of Mendocino, we were forced to end our trip and drive back the 4 hrs through the crazy windy mountains (stupid work!!!) . Jayden (and mommy's back) didn't like all the twists and turns, but it was worth it as we had an AMAZING time celebrating our 1 yr anniversary (our 1st and only anniversary without a child!)

As you can see, we had an action packed weekend. If you want to see all of the pics from our weekend adventures, you can go to our SmugMug site

Working on Jayden's nursery

We're slowly but surely getting Jayden's nursery done (I'm trying to have it complete before I go back to school). We're starting to load up with diapers, the 0-3 month clothes have been washed, and we finally got Jayden's picture from the San Diego Zoo framed... and we LOVE it- hopefully he will too (once he can read of course!).

We registered last weekend, so if anyone wants to get anything for Jayden, feel free to go onto his registries.

1) Babies r Us
2) Lullaby Lane

(just type in either of our names and it will link you to the registry)

Only 3 more months until we get to meet our little guy- we can't wait!!

Weekend of Exploring

We decided that since we live in this AMAZING place, we should try and take advantage of all that it has to offer, so we spent the weekend exploring. On Saturday, we went to Santa Cruz to go to the beach. All of our usual beaches were full, so we continued to drive down the coast until we hit farmland, and finally found a beach with a few spots open. We spent all day at the beach and then headed to downton Santa Cruz to get some pizza (our favorite!) and to people watch.
This is what Santa Cruz county looks like if you keep driving south- pretty nice beach front property!

Once we become millionaires, this will be where we will spend the summers! Pretty nice view I'd say!

In case you were wondering, here's the view from our future summer house!

On Sunday, we drove north past the Golden Gate Bridge (and past all of the San Fran fog) to Marin County and went hiking in the Golden Gate Recreational Park. The hike, of course, ended up at the beach- my favorite place in the whole world!!!
The beautiful views during our hike- god I love this place (why did it take us so long to move to Cali???!!!!)
After a nice 2 mile hike, this is what we saw- WATER, BEACH, BLUE!!!! Could it get any better??!!

Take me to the beach!

A nasty jellyfish on the beach

I'm pregnant and HUNGRY- where's the food?!!!

This I will title "footprints" (i'm so creative!)

HAPPY!!!! 1 more week until we are no longer newleyweds...and we still love each other- wow!

After hiking all day, we went to check out downtown Sausalito. The views were amazing- it was perfectly sunny in Sausalito, but you could see the skyline of SF and it was covered by a lovely layer of fog- pretty crazy!! We walked around and looked in the uber-expensive shops and took in the scenery. Sausalito is like a smaller upscale Rockport...and EVERYONE walking around was eating ice cream (which we somehow were able to resist!).

The view from Sausilito of San Francisco (can u see the fog?!)

Alcatraz

We then drove home, back through the city and the fog, and had a nice BBQ dinner! Just another weekend in NorCal...why does anyone live on the East Coast????

Being a teacher is the GREATEST!!!!

Who gets to go to the beach on a Tuesday AND a Wednesday- um....TEACHERS!!! YIPPPEEEEE. Lindsay came to visit after a nice vacation in Hawaii and I had a few days to show her around town (and convince her to move here- which isn't that hard the moment you spend a day or 2 here!). We spent all day Tuesday at the beach at Half Moon Bay. The weather at Half Moon Bay (for the 1st time in forever) was perfectly sunny- we didn't even bring bathing suits because it's usually so foggy and windy there! We soon got hungry, and since we were lounging at the beach at the Ritz, and since we're teachers, we decided, sure, why not grab a bite to eat at the Ritz- isn't that what all teachers do!! We got some yummy sandwhiches at the Ritz and spent the rest of the day talking and enjoying the view from the Ritz!

The view from the Ritz- HEAVEN!!

I'm pretty sure we sat at these table for a good 4-5 hrs (we had to get our money's worth from our lunch!)

The next day we decided to drive to Santa Cruz and do what we do best- go to the beach! The weather was beautiful and it was a blast catching up and soaking up the rays! Sadly Linds had to leave to next morning- she had "things to do back home"- although we all know she's a teacher, so her "things to do" really meant getting ready for her next trip (which is a trip to Italy with her momma!!). Ah, the life of a teacher!!!!!

The girls after we just stuffed our faces with Pizza my heart in Santa Cruz!

Thanks for the memories Linds. I miss you like crazy already!! If anyone else can get any time off, i promise i will show you a good time- it's kinda hard not too considering where we live!! So come visit us!!!!!!!

25 week belly pics

Jayden has been kicking like crazy and I love watching my belly move. He's almost 2 pounds now which is pretty cool! My belly is growing, but i'm still a lot smaller than most women at 25 weeks, which is good for my back, but sad because you can't tell i'm pregnant if i'm wearing a loose t-shirt.

We're planning on doing some work on the nursery this weekend and are going to head to Babies r us to add stuff to Jayden's registry (we'll let you know the link when we're done adding stuff!). I can't believe that I have a week and a half until I'm in my 3rd trimester- CRAZY!!!

Another perfect weekend in paradise

We had originally planned to go on a nice hike Saturday afternoon, but as we drove North we ran into fog and cold windy weather and decided we would much rather spend the day in the sun. Since we had already packed a picnic lunch, we decided to head over to Foster City- where we could be by the water (the lagoon) without having to drive all the way to the beach. We had a nice picnic lunch and then went on a paddle boat on the lagoon. We then came home and had a nice BBQ dinner.

The lagoon at Foster City

On Sunday, Jeremy's friend Wade came down to the 'burbs to help us pick up our crib and dresser. After a pretty painless move, we enjoyed some BBQ and spent the rest of the day relaxing. And if the day couldn't get any better...Lindsay and her boyfriend came to visit for a few days on the way back from their vacation to Hawaii!!

I'm getting bigger and bigger every day. Jayden is kicking like crazy (especially when I lay down to go to bed) and you can now watch my belly move up and down as he kicks!! We are picking up his crib and dresser this weekend and will start working on his nursery soon. Only 4 more months until we get to meet our little one- we can't wait!!!!

4th of July weekend in Sunny San Diego

Jeremy FINALLY took a day off from work and we were able to get in a mini vacation visiting my parents in San Diego. We had a blast- going to the beach, eating yummy food, seeing all of the animals at the San Diego zoo, and relaxing by the pool. The weather was perfect and we were very sad to leave and go back to the real world.
