Special night with daddy

Mommy went out last night, so daddy took J on a special adventure to the bowling alley. They bowled for a bit, and then hit up the arcades. I love that my boys can have so much fun together when I'm gone =)

Oh the terrific twos

We haven't really done anything too exciting this past week. We had a pretty low-key week, and didn't really go out much because Jayden was in a "I'm two, so i'm going to whine and cry and lay on the ground and complain" kind of mood for most of the week...and mommy knows better than to go out in public when j man is acting like that. We did manage to go to the beach, a few birthday parties, and spend some quality family time in the hot tub. Here are some random pics from the past week...

Seriously?! Who is this big boy and what did he do with my baby?!

This was one minute before one of the worst public tantrum J has ever thrown...oh, the joys of parenting!

Padres Game

Last week, Aunty Emily came out to LA for work, and made a stopover in San Diego to hang out with us. On Sunday, Uncle AG and Uncle Jamie came down and we all went to a padres game. Jayden, of course, was spoiled like crazy with lots of love from his aunty and uncles and we all had a great time spending time together!

NEW CAR!!!!!!!

Back in the fall of 2003 (SEVEN long years ago), Jeremy's car was stolen from the Northeastern parking lot. Since we were living in downtown Boston, it didn't make sense to get a new car since we already had my 4 runner. Then we moved to Gloucester and I worked in Andover and Jeremy worked in Boston...we didn't want to get a new car since we knew we wanted to move to California, so i would drop Jer off at the train station every morning and he would take the train into the city. A year later we decided to move to San Francisco...when I brought my 4 runner in for servicing they laughed and said that there was no way it was going to make it across the country...my parents were also moving at the time, so they gave us their minivan, and the plan was to get a new car once we moved out to California. Well, 3 yrs of living in the Bay and we still never got another car...I kept the minivan since I was pregnant, and then had a newborn, and my wonderful husband spent thousands of hours walking to the CalTrain, taking the train, walking to the gym, walking to work, walking back to the caltrain, and walking home. Last year we moved to San Diego and bought our house, which meant no new car for us. Drum roll please...I would like to report, SEVEN long years later, we are now officially a 2 car family again!!!!!!!! Thank you G&G for your help, don't know what we'd do without you guys.

Our new car (1st time either of us have ever had a brand spankin new car- when we got the car, it had 21 miles on it...much nicer than the 153,000 currently on the mininvan)

Home improvements

So, now that we've been living in our house for a yr, we thought we'd try and at least do something to make the place nicer. As of last week, we FINALLY have furniture in our front room. For the last year, we have had an empty room (except for some of Jayden's toys) mostly because we were too cheap to buy more furniture, but also because the room is oddly shaped and we had no idea how to furnish it. Last week I found this awesome deal on craigslist and we scored a couch, a loveseat and a big comfy chair and ottoman that fits perfectly in our front room. It's so nice to finally have an adult room where we can sit and talk and there aren't any toys (well, a few toys, but now almost all of J's toys are in the family room. We still need to paint and put up pictures, but, overall, we're pretty excited about the changes!

Reading with daddy

Jayden definitely approves of the new furniture!

Our next home improvement project was getting rid of the ugly built in bookshelves in the family room. We had to have the couch floating in the room because of the bookshelves and it has always annoyed me...a few days ago I somehow convinced Jeremy to rip them off the wall. We got one down, and found some interesting things... they covered up a pot light, there are lovely 80's glass tiles in the wall, and they didn't continue the wood flooring where the bookshelf was. We're hoping uncle Brad can help us out sometime and help us fix these minor issues, but, for now, I am VERY happy as I was finally able to push the couch against the wall, which has really opened up the space...I still can't believe how much bigger the room looks. I'll post some after pics when the project is complete...hopefully we'll do it sometime in the next few months.

Hullabaloo Concert

Last night we drove up to the Quail Botanical Gardens to take Jayden to a Hullaboloo concert. Jayden loves Hullabaloo (we listen to it almost every day in the car), but we hadn't seen them live in 6+ months. The last time we saw them, Jayden just stood there the entire concert. This time, however, he was jumping and singing and dancing the entire time- it was so much fun to watch him!

La Mesa Fire Station

A few weeks ago Jayden's playgroup had a tour of the La Mesa Fire house. We haven't been to playgroup since Jayden started school in January, but we had a few weeks off so we joined the crew at the fire station. The firemen showed them around the station, showed them where they ate, slept (and went potty) and then they got to look inside all the trucks. I had some fun too- I got to the go down the fire pole and then I got to put on all the fire gear for the kids!

Listening to the fireman telling us about "stop, drop and roll"

Can't believe how well they listened to him

Jayden was so proud
