Jayden is getting closer to his 1 year birthday (T-18 days) and is changing like crazy. Here are some of his most recent milestones...
i. J just recently learned how to clap. He'll start to clap, and then will look down at his hands, realize what he's doing, and then get super excited and clap even more. He also now claps and shakes his butt now every time I play music for him...so stinkin cute. We're starting music class in a few weeks, so I can't wait to see him shake his booty with all of his lil friends.
ii. Jayden has decided that he is now a 1 nap a day baby. While this makes it easier to things done each day, it's a little bit of a challenge getting together with friends because all of his lil buddies are still on a 2 nap schedule.
iii. Jayden hung out at the kid's club at the gym today for the 2nd time while mommy actually got some time alone and was able to work out. It was amazing to have some time off (although I'm exhausted from Spin class this morning) and Jayden did great at the kids club. In fact, when I went to get him he cried because he didn't want to leave. Freedom for mommy and fun for Jayden- can't get much better than that.
iv. Jayden is now starting to understand a lot of what we say to him. If you tell him to get his milk, he will go get his sippy cup and take a sip. If you tell him we're going to leave, he walks over to the door and when we open the door he walks over to the elevator. Every day I realize he understands us more and more...so cool!
v. The tantrums have started. Jayden now screams, arches his back and throws his body all over the place when we take something away from him. Oh, so much fun...can't wait 'till I get to deal with these on a daily basis.
That's all I can think of for now. We have Busy Bee's class tomorrow and then after his nap we're going to Half Moon Bay to go to a pumpkin patch!

Home sweet home
We spent the day close to home (since we've finally realized that Jayden could care less where we take him, as long as we let him walk and explore). Jayden spent the morning with Daddy (while Mommy slept in, took a long shower, and did some laundry). Jayden hasn't taken a 2nd nap in about a week, so we decided to try and push his 1st nap back a little later in hopes that he would take a longer nap. We went to the park around 11ish (his normal nap time) and he was literally comatose. We put him in the swing and he just stared at us expressionless. We came back home and put him down and he was asleep the moment his head hit the mattress. While J slept, Jer and I installed a plastic sheet to cover the balcony (so J can't fall through the slats)-- it wasn't as easy as we thought it would be, but we finally figured it out and now Jayden can hang out on the balcony. We're going to get rid of the plants (since we never water them anyways) and clear the area so Jayden will have an outdoor area to play in. After his 1 hr nap (yup, the whole putting down later idea didn't work too well) we brought him outside and he had so much fun playing in his new space. Since it was so nice out today, we decided it would also be fun to take Jayden swimming-- daddy and Jayden played in the water while I took pictures and relaxed. We finished off the day by having a yummy BBQ dinner with our friend Sarah and then Jayden passed out for the night at 6:45.
Fun day with good friends
We went to Lisa, Hemang and Jack's house for a BBQ yesterday and we all had so much fun. Since all 3 boys have decided to boycott their 2nd naps, we ended up spending almost the entire day at the Mehta's house. It was so nice to hang out with friends and enjoy the beautiful sunny day outside.
The boys decided to give the moms a little break and took the kids on a walk around the neighborhood
...and I guess they made some new friends along the way (daddy documented some of the scandalous things they did on their trip with his iPhone)

Hanging out at home with Daddy
Mommy and Jayden haven't been feeling that well (cold, cough etc), so we spent most of Sunday staying close to home. We spent the afternoon at the park in Foster City, and after J's 1st/only nap for the day, we went for a walk around our condo building. J had so much fun showing daddy his favorite places to explore.

the boys were playing peekaboo behind the plants...this is the look on J's face when Jer popped out behind one of the plants...a mixture of excitement and fear

Jayden's 1st Haircut
We spent most of the afternoon at the park, and then we took Jayden to the barber to get his 1st haircut. He's been rockin a mullet for quite some time now, so we were excited to see how much cuter he would be with a hair cut. He sat on Daddy's lap, and a woman at the barbershop played peekaboo with a balloon while another woman cut his hair. He did a great job and didn't cry at all. The woman was awesome, and even shaped up his hair in the back and behind his ears. While Jayden does look super cute without his mullet, this was just one more reminder that he is no longer our little baby.

GO BLUE
Jayden doesn't get to see his cousin Tyler as often as he would like, but he wanted him to know that this football season he will be supporting his team!

Happy 11 months Jayden
The countdown is on…1 month till our little guy turns one. He is becoming such a big boy and sometimes I have trouble remembering what it was like when he was a baby.
He’s a really good walker now, and has just started to run. He is also now climbing up onto EVERYTHING. He is constantly on the move. He walks around our apartment, walks up and down the halls, walks around outside our place, walks all over the park- this boy does not stop moving. No more Team Mack picnics, as the moment we find a place to sit down and I spread out a blanket and take out some toys, he is off on a new adventure. He is constantly exploring his surroundings, picking up leaves, feeling flowers, ripping up the grass, and you can just see his brain working, trying to categorize all these new objects and new surroundings. Part of our daily routine now is going outside for a walk. This is by far my favorite part of the day. Jayden is tired from all of our activities throughout the day, missing his Daddy, bored at home, and all I have to do is take him outside and it’s as if we've entered the gates to Disney Land. He gets a huge grin on his face and takes off laughing, squealing, exploring and I follow him, looking at my son with amazement, wondering how I got so lucky to be blessed with this amazing child.
Not only is Jayden walking and starting to run, but he’s now also into opening and closing EVERYTHING. He opens all the cabinets, the sliding shower doors, the doors to all the rooms, and he will sit there with a huge smile just opening and closing the doors. We finally had to baby proof some of the cabinets because he’s now taking everything out of the cabinets. This is his new favorite game- take everything out of where it is, giggle, and move on to the next thing (and, of course his sucker momma has to pick everything up and put it back where it was). His new favorite thing to do is to take all of our shoes off the shoe rack one at a time. It’s actually comical watching him do this because he’s very methodical about it and for some reason it gives him so much pleasure to take all the shoes off the rack.
Jayden also LOVES to play with any type of ball. He kicks balls down the hall, plays soccer with daddy, or just walks around the house carrying a ball. Last month he was obsessed with wheels, and while he still likes wheels, his new obsession is balls. Even when we go to Jr Gym he would much rather play with all the balls than go on all the play structures. It’s looking like our little man will be an athlete (or so we’re hoping).
Jayden is still a social butterfly-- he is friends with everyone in our building and sometimes we’re late picking up Daddy from the train because we have to stop and say hi to everyone we see. He hasn’t quite figured out how to wave yet, but he does this thing where he sticks out his hand and reaches toward the person and says “eh eh” and then gives a big smile. He just recently became afraid of strangers, so he now only does this greeting to people he knows or feels comfortable with.
He still hasn’t said any words yet, but he babbles like crazy all day long. He is definitely communicating in his own way and I’m pretty good at figuring out what he’s trying to say, which is awesome considering the 1st several months of his life I had no idea what he wanted which was extremely frustrating.
Jayden is still a picky eater. Some days he will eat all three meals, and some days he won’t really eat anything. He changes what he likes daily, but his favorite foods for the last few weeks are: watermelon, green beans, and alphabet pasta (and of course, once I stock up on these items he’ll decide that he no longer likes them).
While Jayden was so adorable when he was a little baby, I am loving this age the best. He is starting to become independent, but still wants to hang out with his mama. He understands a lot of what I say to him, but still can’t talk back yet. I have so much fun hanging out with him and I love watching him grow and change every day.
For Jayden’s 11-month birthday we took a trip to Ikea because Daddy needs some shelves to store his stuff above his desk (i.e. away from where Jayden can reach). We looked around for some shelves (we have to go back later with Daddy because it was too overwhelming) and then spent the rest of the time walking around. Jayden loved walking around the store, as there are so many different play areas for kids. We also grabbed some lunch at the Café. Jayden sat in a booster seat eating his mac and cheese with mixed veggies and I just sat there in awe…this is the same boy that screamed 12 hrs a day every day for 4 months straight, the same boy that wouldn’t let me put him down and wouldn’t go in the car seat, and here I was, sitting with my boy, enjoying a lunch out at a café, relaxing, smiling and laughing—a moment I hope I never forget. Did I mention how much I love this kid?!
