Something weird happens to you when you become a parent

The other night Jeremy went to the mall to get a new pair of shoes because his are falling apart. He was gone for over an hour and when he came back he was carrying 2 bags: a cinnamon pretzel for me (hehe) and a teddy bear he saw at the baby gap that he just couldn't resist getting for the little man. This has become an annoying habit lately. Every time each one of us goes shopping for something WE need, we end up coming home with something for Jayden instead. I guess that's what this whole parenting thing is all about!

Jayden's new bear. For right now, he will be called "Baby bear" until we can come up with a better name (Brownie is working hard trying to think of the perfect name).

Who wants to crawl when you can stand?!

Boring weekend

Usually I post pics on Sunday night highlighting the fun exciting adventures we went on over the weekend. Well, I forgot to post anything because we really did absolutely nothing last weekend. I just uploaded the pics off my camera and realized we have a few good pictures to share, so I guess I have to talk about our boring unadventurous weekend. The heatwave lasted 4 days in total and was BRUTAL. Jayden and I went to the beach for 2 of those days and spent the day at the pool for the other 2. On Saturday, it was still pretty hot, so Sarah came over and we all went swimming. We came back inside for J's nap and Daddy made us some yummy food on the grill! Sarah brought over her Mariokart for the Wii, so Jeremy and Sarah played some mariokart while Jayden and I played and whined about the heat. We finally convinced them to stop playing the Wii so we could go check out the new self-serve frozen yogurt place that just opened in downtown San Mateo...YUMMMMY!!! After eating 1/2 a pound of fro-yo each, we came back to play some more mariokart.

The heat wave finally broke on Saturday night so it was back to our normal Northern California weather on Sunday (sunny and 70's)...thank god, I don't know how much more of the 100 degree weather we could take. We had a pretty boring Sunday as well. We had a picnic out behind our apartment building and that was about all we accomplished all day.

Peace=)

Still munching away oblivious to the fact that he had daddy's hat on...(he seems to never notice ANYTHING that is placed on his head...kinda weird, but nice that we can put a sun hat and sunglasses on him and he doesn't try to immediately take them off like every other kid his age)

My daddy is so cool

I love this pic- it pretty much captures daddy on the weekends

Daddy stealing Jayden's toy, pretending he has monkey toes like momma and J

J attacking Daddy

After our picnic (and J's nap) Daddy took Jayden to the park (without mommy!!!) and they hung out and watched a little league game while mommy napped and did some laundry.

Our baby food supply was running low, so after we put the J-man to bed, we made some squash, pees, prunes and cantaloupe purees...tasty!

And that was our very unexciting weekend. The good news is Grandma Mack is coming this weekend so we will hopefully have a very exciting, adventurous weekend! For now, we're off to the petting zoo!!

Happy 7 months Jayden

I want to be able to press the pause button because this is all just moving way too fast. The 1st few months of Jayden's life seemed to last a lifetime. I will never forget calling my mother crying saying I just couldn't take 1 more hour of his screaming, let alone 1 more day. She told me to just take one day at a time. I didn't know what that meant because every second, every minute seemed to take forever. Everyone said "by the time he's x months old it will get better" which just made me cry more because I couldn't envision it ever getting better. Well, we got his reflux under control, his colic went away, and we are now blessed with the happiest, most easy-going, fun loving baby ever, and now I want to be able to just slow everything down. He is growing up way too quickly and I wish there was some magic potion that would make him stay this age a little bit longer. He doesn't talk back yet, doesn't throw tantrums, doesn't tell me I'm stupid and am ruining his life...he thinks his mommy and daddy walk on water and can solve all problems, his face lites up when he sees us in the morning and we laugh and smile together all day long. How much better can it get?!

At 7 months, Jayden is now crawling, sitting, standing up, babbling and, of course, still jumping like crazy. He is happy from morning to night. He only really cries if he's tired, and once he wakes up from his nap, he's back to being our happy HYPER baby. He's eating 3 meals a day now and his favorite foods currently are mango and applesauce. He absolutely loves eating watermelon and cantaloupe in his mesh feeder and will spend a good 10 minutes sucking ALL the juice out (as it drips all over him). He loves going swimming in the pool, although isn't too big a fan of getting his face in the water. He's no longer into his baths because he wants to be moving around, so now one of us goes in the bath with him and holds him so he can stand up and jump around (his most favorite thing to do). His favorite toy is his leapfrog music table-- he would sit on his knees and play with this all day long if i let him. As the music comes on he squeals with excitement. Jayden is not that big into crawling yet, but he will crawl to something he really wants (if he doesn't get distracted by something else on the way). The 3 things he will crawl to without getting distracted are: the remote, my cell phone, and his leap frog music table. He will play with his other toys too, but he has a rather short attention span (just like his momma)! He is getting very strong and now likes to fight like crazy during diaper changes. He also will pull himself up on pretty much anything. His favorite thing to do is to pull up on the couch. When he stands up he gets this big grin on his face and looks at me like "hey, cool, look what I can do!" He loves exploring his environment. Wherever we go, his hands are out ready to touch EVERYTHING. He even loves the blue sign next to the elevator and gets mad if I don't let him touch it before we get into the elevator.

We've been on a pretty regular schedule for a while now. He is now extending the amount of time he can be awake which is nice so we can do more things during the day. He also is fine with taking his 2nd nap anywhere, so we can spend the day somewhere and not have to be a slave to his nap schedule like we used to be. I'm also trying to take Jayden out every day. I'm sure he would be content to stay in our apartment and play with his toys, but he is very social and loves being around people, so I try to take him to new and exciting places as often as I can. We always go to the park so he can go on the swings, which he LOVES. He also has fun at the beach, although he's now at that fun stage where he constantly tries to put the sand in his mouth and then starts to cough and looks at me like "how did this stuff get in here, it doesn't taste very good." Next week we're going with some of the mom's and babies from playgroup to a petting zoo, which should be fun!

Jayden, in our non-bias opinions, is the cutest, happiest, funniest, most lovable baby EVER. He is the love of our lives and when I look at him I just want to squeeze him and keep him safe (and small) forever. We love you bud, buddy, lil man, budskeez, boo, booboo, boogs, boogskeez, j-dawgs, j-man, boobooskeez, bud, j-skeez, jaydenwilliam, j, booger, mr man, beluga, baby beluga, mr mack, mr smiley pants, cutey-patootey...HAPPY 7 MONTHS!!!

Heat Wave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're in the middle of a heat wave -- temperatures are in the high 90's and are supposed to reach 100 tomorrow. Luckily the redwood trees in front of our apartment have kept our place relatively cool, but it has been HOT outside.

Yesterday we went to visit daddy at work since the heat wave made San Francisco actually warm this time of year. We went to a park next to AT & T park and hung out while daddy played hooky from work. Eventually daddy had to go back to work, so we went home and went swimming and played outside.

Visiting Daddy at work...I'd say this is a pretty good excuse to take an extended lunch break!

Little boy, big baseball

J playing with his toys by the pool

Gotta love the look of intense concentration

Today Jayden had a play date with his girlfriend Lucy at our favorite place-- the beach!! We spent the entire day at the beach since it was nice and cool compared to San Mateo. When came home to pick up daddy it was still in the 80's, which is crazy for this area since it usually gets cool here at night. Tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter than today, so we will probably either spend the day at the pool or head back to the beach. We don't mind this heat wave business one bit!
Yeah, we love the beach

Makin' the moves already (just like his daddy)

Mr Mack doing his thing...mackin'

HEHE, do you think she likes me? I do have really cool toys and two big shiny teeth!
