A Yankees fan just like his Daddy =(

I was born and raised in Boston and grew up loving Boston sports. My loving hubby was not so fortunate as he grew up in the Bronx and was raised as a die hard Yankees fan. So what happens when a Red Sox fan marries a Yankees fan and they have a baby? Well, some things in life are not worth fighting over, and since I know every dad dreams of cheering on their favorite sports team with their son, I have kindly allowed Jer to dress J up in Yankees gear so they can cheer on the Yankees together. This weekend the Yankees and Sox played a 3-game series, so Daddy dressed up his little man in his Yankees outfit...but sadly the Sox beat the Yankees 2-1 (hehe). Even if Jayden doesn't come to his senses and grows up to be a Yankees fan, I will always remind him who won the World Series the week he was born!!!

We have a sitter!!!

The weather this weekend has been pretty much perfect- 80 degrees and sunny. We've gone on lots of family walks and picnics and have just enjoyed spending time together as a family.

Jayden continues to amaze us as he seems to learn a new skill every day. Just last week I was reading that babies should be sitting by 6 months and I thought, J is nowhere near sitting- he screams every time I try to put him in a seated position and usually just ends up throwing up. Well, on Friday we went to the park and I put Jayden in a seated position and he stayed seated! He was a little wobbly at 1st and tipped over after 30-45 seconds, but after a few days of practice, he's now starting to master his new skill, and even played with toys while sitting when we were having our picnic this afternoon.

Not only is J sitting now, but he's getting VERY close to crawling (one skill I'd like him to be a little "slow" in mastering as our house is nowhere near to being childproof). At 1st J would lift up his chest and kick his feet, but now he's getting up on all fours and rocking. Once he's up on all fours, he can't quite figure out what to do- he either falls downs on his belly or launches forward and does a face plant- it's pretty funny to watch.

SITTING!!!! Such a big boy =)

"What? Why do you guys look so surprised? I told you I could do it!"

Uh oh

And he's down for the count!

"Ok, I'm on all fours...what do I do now?"

"I think I need to take a little break. This is hard work!"

Daddy's famous Saturday morning french toast (Jayden was drooling and said he can't wait 'till he's old enough to take part in this tradition!)

Learning and Growing like CRAZY!!!

Jayden is getting soooooooo big and is changing and learning so much every day. He can now hold his nighttime bottle, which is so cute. He even pushes it away when he needs a break and then grabs it back when he's ready to finish. He is also almost sitting on his own. Most of the time he ends up throwing up while he's sitting, but he just laughs and smiles with puke in his mouth and down his shirt. Mommy usually does 2 loads of laundry a day!

J is also eating a lot more food. We bought a hand mixer and over the weekend made squash, sweet potatoes and pears. We had so much fun!! J now has eaten oatmeal, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, applesauce & pears- what a big boy!! We're trying peas next (yuck)!!

Jayden also is talking like crazy. Every day he has a new sound and he just plays and mumbles to himself-- it's hysterical! While he still loves his jumperoo, he's getting excited about a lot of his other toys now. He loves to stand (while we balance him of course) and bang on his music table. His most recent favorite is playing with bubbles. Aunt Jaime told us about the Gymboree bubble maker and Jayden LOVES this thing. He stares at all the bubbles, then tries to pop them. He even managed to pop a few with his drool!!

We haven't done much this week, other than playing and going for walks and picnics. They're going to be heating our pool soon, so I'm hoping it will warm enough to take Jayden swimming.

VIDEOS!!!!!

Since J is a lot more interactive now, we've started to film him. Here are some of our most recent videos. They are rather long (haven't figured out how to edit videos yet) and are probably boring to most of you, but I just thought we'd post them for anyone interested. Pictures are fun, but it's hard to "get to know" the little man through pictures, and since most of you live far away from us and don't get to see J as often as you'd like, here's our big boy in action!! Again, sorry they're so long!!

Goldstein Cousins Club 2008: St Maarten

We just got back from St Maarten where we celebrated our 1st Goldstein’s Cousins Club. We are all very sad that we are back home and no longer on vacation, but we had an amazing time and will never forget the family memories we created! We couldn’t have dreamed of a better trip-- our room overlooked the ocean and was right next to the pool, the weather was perfect, and our little guy lived up to Grandpa’s nickname and was a true angel!!!! The flights getting there were miserable (two VERY long delays), but J handled it like a champ. Once we finally got there, he wasn’t even affected by the small wobbly crib and the 3 hour time difference- he’s our super baby!!!!

Every day we relaxed on the deck, went swimming, and went for family walks. Jayden had MANY exciting “firsts” on this trip!! We took him swimming in the pool and in the ocean. J was a bit skeptical of the cold water at 1st, but after a day or two, he couldn’t get enough of it. He is a true California baby and LOVED swimming in the water. When we held him in the pool he kicked his legs and splashed him arms like he was swimming. He also went swimming in the ocean for the 1st time, but I think he liked the pool better.

Now that Jayden is becoming much more aware of his surroundings, he was very interested in everything and everyone around him. He stared at EVERYTHING and tried to feel/eat as much as he could. His favorite thing to feel in St Maarten was this red flower that looked like a koosh ball. Every time we walked past it we would hold him in front of the flower and he would hold out his hand and play with it. He also loved to feel the sand in between his toes and in his hands. He loved to sit in the sand and bury his feet. He also put his hands in the sand and, of course, tried to put it directly in his mouth! Whenever we went on walks, J would look around and try to see everything. He smiled at EVERYONE and, as Daddy liked to say, gave away smiles for free.

The coolest part of the trip was seeing Jayden interact with his cousin Tyler. He was amazed by Tyler and would just sit and stare at him. At 1st he was a bit intimidated by him (Tyler is a little loud!), but by the end of the week Jayden was touching Tyler’s face and they even held hands a few times. Tyler even fed Jayden some of his cereal and helped put him to bed!

It was so amazing to get to spend a whole week together as a family. J had so much fun seeing his daddy all week long and spending time with his cousin and the rest of the Goldstein clan. We’re already counting down the days until next year!!
