Staycation #1: La Jolla Shores

The amazing thing about working for yourself is that you get to create your own hours, but you don't actually get any (paid) vacation time, so when do you ever take some time off? Jer has been working a lot lately, with a few big projects really getting going in the next week, so J and I convinced him that he really needed a day off. Well, it wasn't really a day off since he worked in the morning and once J went down for his nap, but he did take a few hours off to go on our 1st family staycation. We headed to La Jolla Shores to hang out at the beach and see the new playground that is finally done. This is the best beach in SD for kids since the water is really calm, which means that no matter what day of the week you go here during the summer, it's ALWAYS packed with lots and lots of kids. We got there earlier enough to get a parking spot, and enjoyed a family day playing in the water, digging holes, and climbing on the play structure. Besides a short beach day in Laguna last weekend, this is the 1st time Daddy's joined us at the beach in a LONG time...I always take J during the week so we don't have to deal with the crowds over the weekend.

J ans Daddy went on a walk all the way to the rocks (and Mommy actually got to sit on the beach and relax for a few minutes!)

The water was actually really warm

La Jolla Shores also has a beautiful brand new playground right next to the beach- they've been working on it since we moved here, and it's finally done, so we decided to check it out.

J will ALWAYS find the wheel in EVERY playground we go to

Peek-a-boo...lookin at Daddy through the window (love the look J gives when he sees his daddy)

J saw the big kids climbing this, and wanted to try, but refused to use his hands, so Daddy had to hold him up

After a great day at the beach, we came home, J took a nap, while Daddy did a few hrs of work, and then we met our friends at SD Desserts for a yummy dinner (and dessert of course)! Overall, it was an awesome staycation! We hope to do this every so often, and maybe sometime in the future we can convince Daddy to take off more than a few hrs!
