Jayden meets the redwoods (and the cold)

We used to love going on walks in the redwood forest, but for some reason we haven't gone since we've had Jayden. Yesterday we had nothing to do and Jer decided we should go on a walk, so we drove over to Woodside and went for a walk. It was fun showing Jayden the redwood trees, but it was FREEZING, so we didn't last too long. We decided this will be a regular activity once it starts to warm up again.

Beer Friday at Devil's Canyon Brewery

A local brewery opens it's doors one Friday a month for "beer Friday"- they have a band, sell food, and, of course, their beer. The brewery is "family and dog friendly" from 5-7pm. Daddy came home from work a little early (after a crazy busy LONG work week) and we met up with a few of Jayden's crew and had fun listening to music, eating good food, drinking, and actually being out of the house on a Friday night (even if it was only until 7pm).

And after a fun night and a LONG week, Daddy gets to do his most favorite thing in the world...snuggle up with his little man and read some bedtime stories =)

Friday Flashback

A year ago today, on the plane on the way to San Diego to get some much needed help and rest. The smile says it all...finally on prevacid, feeling better, and happy to be seeing Grandma and Grandpa

Happy 14 months Jayden (a few days late)

Wow, I feel like I blinked and Jayden turned a month older. Jayden is getting way more vocal these days, although he still hasn't said any real words yet. He loves reading, changing the pages, and pointing out everything he sees in the books. Jayden can now go up and down stairs while holding on to the railing. He's OBSESSED with lights and absolutely loves looking at Christmas lights. One of our daily adventures is to go down to the lobby of our building and point at all the Christmas lights (I swear, this kid would be entertained for hrs by X-mas lights). Jayden has started to eat a little bit, although still lives mostly on his smoothies. He has 3 out of 4 of his molars, so we're hoping that once the last one comes in he will develop an appetite for real food again. Jayden continues to make us smile and laugh every day and it's amazing how easily his smile can make everything all better. We love you very much Jayden William.

Jayden's "big sisters"

Two of the girls in our building came to visit a few weeks ago, and I introduced them to the Wii (big mistake). They now knock on our door every few nights wanting to "hang out." Jayden loves when they come visit and gets so excited when they play with him. He claps for them when they play the Wii and attaches to their legs when he wants them to stop and play with him. So cute! I think Jayden would've been a really cute little brother.

Daddy's Birthday Dinner

To continue the tradition, we went to the Cheescake Factory to celebrate Daddy's Birthday...we love celebrating here since they have sugar-free cheescake! It was a little different than last year-- Jayden was actually awake during the meal and was able to stay long enough for Daddy to enjoy his cheescake this year.

Last year, celebrating Daddy's 30th-- J slept through most of the dinner, then woke up screaming and didn't stop, so we walked around the restaurant while Daddy ate his cheescake =(

Fun Friday with mommy

Jayden had to get a flu shot today this morning, so I wanted to do something fun with him this afternoon because shots are no fun. We went back to the SJ Children's Museum since we are now members, and Jayden had sooooooooooooo much fun.

Tonight I was trying to make dinner and Jayden was attached to my leg, as usual, and then I had a brilliant idea...since it appears as if Jayden is definitely a water lover, I pulled a chair up to the sink, turned the water on, threw some bowls and spoons in, and voila, our very own water table. Jayden played by himself the entire time while I made dinner- it was perfect!

And a cute picture of Daddy playing in the sink back in the day =)

Flashback Friday

Believe it or not, we actually went through a period of about 6 weeks where we have very little pictures of our little man. Why you ask, well, because he pretty much screamed all day every day and I spent most of those days crying with him, wondering when this whole being a parent thing would start to be fun. Everyone always told me it would get better at some point and I so didn't believe them. Thank god Jayden now spends most of his days babbling and smiling-- there's only so much crying a person can handle!

Jayden at 6 weeks, doing what he did best- screaming and crying NON-STOP

Happy 31st Birthday Daddy!!!!!

Daddy proudly displaying his mug Jayden made for him

Jayden clapping as he revealed his 2nd gift to Daddy...we re-potted Daddy's favorite succulent (which we got on our anniversary trip 2 years ago) and Jayden painted the pot just for Daddy!

Then we surprised Daddy with his present from Grandma and Grandpa...lobsters and clam chowder shipped from the East Coast!

We put them on the kitchen floor and let Jayden explore.

Time to EAT!!!!!!

Happy Birthday to the best husband and daddy in the whole wide world
