Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving this year. Grandma Mack and Larry flew in, and we went to Jeremy's Aunt and Uncle's house in the city. Jayden got to meet his cousin Lydia for the first time and see his cousin Jesse again. Jayden also had fun playing with Holly the dog and quickly learned how fun it can be to throw food on the ground and watch the dog pick it up. The food was AMAZING and it was so much fun to spend some time with the Nussbaum side of the fam.

Jayden was hungry before the food we ready, so he had a little pasta appetizer

Touchdown!!!!

Written by Daddy...

Tonight I took an evening shower with Jayden, since he hadn't had one since Thanksgiving dinner (he still had apple pie in his hair... i know, ew....). We were in the shower, touching each other's bellybuttons and sounding out words when I got a flash of inspiration. I raised my arms and said "Touchdown!" Jayden looked at me quizzically, and tried to figure out what his crazy papa was doing. The second time I did it, he smiled and laughed. The third time he raised his own arms! We continued playing in the shower for another 15 minutes, and then mama came to get her little man out. After we got back to the living room, Jayden proceeded to raise his arms above his head and smile every time we said Touchdown! Even while drinking his milk he would pause, and slowly lift one arm while holding his milk with the other. Needles to say, Mama was very impressed. Yeah, we boys have some skills :)

New skillz

It seems as though Jayden is learning an exciting new skill almost every day, and we both get so excited when Daddy gets home so we can show Daddy. His most recent new skills:

i. Eating with a fork...when Jayden actually decides to eat (which is rare these days), he now likes me to put his food on a fork, and he then picks up the fork and stuffs the food in his mouth...so cute!

ii. Stacking...Jayden got stacking donuts from Grandma Mack for his birthday and I took them out the other day and, much to my surprise, he totally figured it out after showing him how to do it twice. My favorite part about watching him do this is the expression on his face-- he has this intense look of concentration and breathes really loudly...the reason this makes me smile so much is because this is EXACTLY what Jer does when he is concentrating on something.

iii. Dumping and filling...Jayden now loves to empty his toys out of his toy bin and then fill them back up. At 1st I thought this was a fun skill since he could finally help me clean up, but usually after cleaning up, he likes to dump everything out again, and then moves on to something else...oh well =(

A duck says quack

Every night we read a book to Jayden before putting him to bed. Tonight we were reading Ten Little Ladybugs (one of his all time favorite books) and we got to the page with a duck on it. Both Jer and I said "a duck says quack quack" and Jayden pointed to the duck and said "quack quack, quack quack." I looked over at Jer and we both just stared at each other, smiling, completely in awe of our little man...so amazing to watch this little guy grow up right in front of us!

I love this face

Happy Monday!

Sunday = Jayden and Daddy time

Playing hide n seek with daddy

Jayden's new favorite game...he loves to open and close the door to the tennis courts...every time he would open it, Jer would pretend Jayden was hurting him and Jayden would laugh hysterically

Apparently it's funny to try and beat up daddy

Had to sneak one of J and mommy in here (don't know why he looks so serious here)

Foster City...so peaceful

Running around with Daddy

Beach day

Oh how I love California...2nd week in a row that we've been to the beach and it's almost December! I'm pretty sure Jayden is a beach lover just like his mom and dad!

Walking to the beach

Papa and his lil beach bum

Team Mack headed to the beach

Half Moon Bay...I LOVE that this beautiful beach is just 15 minutes away

C'mon daddy, you're too slow

We love the beach!!!!!!!!!

J thought it would be fun to crawl on top of me and jump up and down

Best feeling in the world...I love that Jayden will still snuggle with his momma

Fun family adventures...we love the weekends!

Flashback Friday

This is Jayden at 5 weeks old- I can't believe how different he looks now. This was one of the rare occasions that we actually bathed our child...we used to hold off as long as we could on giving him a bath because he HATED baths and since he cried all day long, we didn't feel like doing something that made him cry even more. Nowadays, you can't get him out of the bath.

When Jayden was 5 weeks old, I brought him into see Jer at work. It's been a year since that day and I still remember it like it was yesterday...we walked upstairs, he was fine, then all of a sudden all of Jeremy's coworkers swarmed us to get a better look at him, and he lost it, and he screamed and screamed and screamed for about 30 minutes non-stop. Needless to say, we didn't visit Daddy at work again for a long long time.

It's scary to think that this was Jayden 1 yr ago...I can't even imagine what crazy things he'll be doing a year from now.

Happy 13 months Jayden

At 13 months, Jayden now: says dada and cat, changes the pages in books, waves hi and bye to everyone (and everything), runs, climbs up on everything (including the couch and the tv table), throws tantrums, knows what it means when we say it's time to go (so cute- he goes to the door and when we open the door he walks to the elevator, waits for the door to open, goes in the elevator, and when it opens on the lower level he walks out and walks to the car) laughs like crazy every time I say yucky while making a silly face, always carries a stuffed animal with him (his favorite being his meerkat), is obsessed with sticks, balls, and wheels, hates most food (except Trader Joes alphabet pasta), is not to fond of diaper changes (and lets us know it), claps and dances to music, loves to play the drum, only drinks from sippy cups (NO MORE BOTTLES!!!), and still sleeps like a champ (thank god). Happy 13 months big boy.

Carrying on a Goldstein family tradition

Every fall since I can remember my father would take all the kids outside to catch a leaf...supposedly you will have a good winter if you catch a leaf. We were planning on taking Jayden to the beach after his nap yesterday because it was so ridiculously nice out, but he decided to take a 3.5 hr marathon nap, so instead of going to the beach we just hung out in our "backyard" and played with the leaves. Jer and I both caught a leaf and we caught one for Jayden. We tried to capture the moment by taking a picture, but didn't do too great of a job (oh well). We now are promised to have a good winter- woohoo (hopefully that means 80 degree weather all winter long!!!!).
